Unbeaten Rayo win at troubled neighbours Getafe

Newly-promoted Rayo Vallecano continued their good start in the Spanish Liga on Sunday with a 1-0 lunchtime win away to neighbours Getafe.

The only goal in the south Madrid derby came in the fifth minute, when Rayo striker Michu headed in a well-worked corner which had been flicked on by Pedro Botelho.

Getafe rarely threatened to equalize and were booed off by their own fans. They have picked up just one point from three games and are third from bottom.

Rayo, in contrast, are unbeaten and are seventh with five points.

This is the first time ever that four Madrid teams are in the top flight.

Atletico Madrid were scheduled to receive Racing Santander later on Sunday, then Real Madrid were scheduled to visit Levante.

Real will join Valencia on top - both with nine points from three games - if they manage to beat Levante. Valencia won 1-0 at bottom team Sporting Gijon on Saturday.

Two points behind Valencia, sharing second place, are Barcelona and Sevilla. Barca caned Osasuna 8-0 on Saturday, Sevilla beat Real Sociedad 1-0.
