Pogba ready for United bow

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that French starlet Paul Pogba is set to make his Manchester United debut in the Carling Cup.

United face old rivals Leeds on Tuesday,

and Ferguson is ready to blood some of his young talents.

The main highlight will be the appearance of 18-year-old Pogba - long heralded as a future world star.

Pogba joined United in 2009 when the club lured him from Le Havre, in a move which greatly annoyed the French club as they felt he was a star in the making.

Now Pogba is set to get his chance to start at Elland Road and Ferguson has no qualms about bringing him in.

"He's got a slight injury, it's not too bad, though. So he wasn't available for Sunday but he should be able to play on Tuesday and I intend to play him against Leeds United," said Ferguson.
United are understood to have turned down an approach from Championship side Burnley to take Pogba on loan as Ferguson does not think he is ready for that.

"It's more difficult to loan a boy of 18 who's come from France," he said.

"We prefer to keep him with us until we find he's mature enough to possibly go on loan.

"Maybe next year that could be an option but we're definitely expecting him this season to stay with Manchester United."

Talent

Michael Carrick is another expecting big things of Pogba, adding: "Paul is a huge talent.

"He has trained with us a number of times, so we have seen quite a lot of him and he looks very promising.

"If he goes about things in the right way and gets a little bit of luck at the right time, he is going to have a bright future."

Pogba is one of a number of young players included in the squad with Tom Thorpe, Ezekiel Fryers, Larnell Cole and the Keane twins Will and Michael all involved in Ferguson's squad.
