Craig Bellamy is pleased to have scored his first goal since returning to Liverpool after helping to earn a place in the fourth round of the Carling Cup.
The Wales striker moved back to Anfield on transfer deadline day
after spending an initial season with the club in 2006/07 before moving on to West Ham, Manchester City and Cardiff for a loan spell.
Bellamy scored nine goals in all competitions in his first stint with Liverpool and the last of those came in the memorable UEFA Champions League win over Barcelona at Camp Nou.
It may not have been as glamorous a location on Wednesday night when the 32-year-old reopened his Reds account in the cup win at Brighton, but he admits it was a 'good feeling'.
"It was a nice goal and I was pleased with it," Bellamy told Liverpool's official website.
Fantastic
"I managed to link up with Luis Suarez who is such an impressive player and it was a good feeling.
"I thought we steamrollered them (Brighton) in the first half. Our movement and everything was outstanding, but it just proves that when you are so on top you need to score the second and third goal."
He added: "We had a lot of players out there like myself who needed the 90 minutes and I enjoyed it."
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard returned from a six-month injury absence as a second-half substitute and he was impressed by Bellamy's efforts.
Gerrard said: "It was a fantastic performance from Craig.
"That's why we signed him. We're really pleased to have him here. The fans saw a taste tonight of what he's going to offer us."
