Edinson Cavani scored a hat-trick late Sunday to help Napoli rally to
snatch a 3-1 win against visiting Serie A champions AC Milan.
The Devils lacked the proper speed, beside Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gennaro Gattuso, to create problems for the Naples hosts, who ran minor risks from an attack manned by Pato and Antonio Cassano.
Goals from Alberto Aquilani, who nodded home a cross from Cassano, and Cavani set the first-half score on 1-1 at the San Paolo stadium.
The Uruguayan volleyed a lose ball under Christian Abbiati's legs to level for Napoli on 13 minutes, just two after Aquilani's superb header.
Cavani repeated himself on 36 minutes, this time firing firmly from the left flank to complete a counter attack led by compatriot Walter Gargano, while Aquilani saw a similar effort blocked by Morgan De Sanctis and fired wide before the break.
The striker's third goal on 51 minutes was a prompt volley off a clearance from Alessandro Nesta on a low cross by Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Two games into the season, Napoli top the standings with six points and a 6-2 goal difference.
"It is beautiful to see this joy," Cavani said. "We played a great game. We know our limits. We now we must work hard as we do every day and we want to continue on this path."
In earlier Sunday action, Juventus won 1-0 at promoted Siena, while Genoa came from behind to stun Lazio 2-1.
Juve striker Alessandro Matri scored a second-half winner for the Bianconeri to push them on to six points with Napoli, Udinese and Cagliari.
"It was not an easy game for us," Juve coach Antonio Conte said. We knew that Siena are a team with good tactics.
"We found a goal that allowed us to secure a win that we deserved on a very difficult pitch, where big teams can have trouble. However, we have a lot to work and try to become a team."
Goals from Rodrigo Palacio and Juraj Kucka in the second half sealed Genoa's comeback at the Stadio Olimpico, where Rome hosts Lazio took the lead with an effort from Giuseppe Sculli.
Lazio opened the season last weekend with a convincing 2-2 draw at Milan, but lost steam against Genoa possibly due to their efforts in a mid-week 2-2 draw with Romania's Vaslui in the Europa League.
Promoted Atalanta beat Palermo 1-0 in a game that was briefly interrupted following a rainstorm, while Udinese won 2-0 against Fiorentina, whose international striker Alberto Gilardino badly injured a knee.
Lecce won 2-0 at Bologna, Catania edged Cesena 1-0 and Parma won 2-1 against Chievo with a brace from Sebastian Giovinco, who was dismissed in injury time with a second booking.
On Saturday, struggling giants Inter Milan and Roma clinched their first point as they drew 0-0, while Cagliari earned a 2-1 win over promoted guests Novara.
